Duke of Edinburgh Expedition Providers

Take 2 Adventure Ltd are now official providers of the Duke of Edinburgh!

As of now we are looking to build of our very own DofE portfolio! We have worked with and run DofE expeditions for other companies all over the UK but now it is our turn to run the expedition programme, provide support and offer guidance to schools and young people in our local area and beyond.

Working with DofE participants is one of the best parts of our job, aside from the fact that we are able to spend time in beautiful areas, it is being out there with the young people; while they learn through the experience of camping, navigating and cooking, while they explore their local area or further afield and while they overcome the challenges of working as a team. Many these elements come as a first time experience and the debrief at the end of every expedition always gives time for reflection, showing development of their personal skills, the discovery of leadership qualities they didn’t know they had or realising an inner confidence at their abilities. This is what makes DofE so special. That is why we are so excited to help more young people realise their potential and experience all things outdoors along the way!

For more information about how we can provide support or run an expedition for your school, if you are a young person wanting to find an open expedition or simply looking for an additional assessor or supervisor contact us: Take2Adventure@gmail.com

April Guided Walks – Double Whammy!

We are excited to announce our next guided walk will be a double whammy! Due to a hectic schedule in March we will be offering two days.. back to back.. on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th April!

We will be running a ‘challenging’ route on the Saturday. A fantastic 14.5km walk (9 miles) taking in the spectacular Kinder downfall and the highest point in the Peak District. Followed by a ‘moderate’ easier going day on the Sunday, a 10.5km (6.5 miles) circular starting in the bustling hub of Castleton, up to the summit of Mam Tor then following the ‘great ridge’ around to Lose Hill, taking in the panoramic views across the Hope and Edale valleys. For more information on the walks and to book your place click  here.

Each day can be booked individually; the Saturday ‘challenging’ walk £12, the Sunday ‘moderate’ walk £10 or both days can be booked at a discounted rate of £20.

We will be camping at Coopers Field Campsite in Edale on the Saturday, so for anyone wanting to do both days, why not book in too or contact us and we will be more than happy to recommend other accommodation options.

Discover the Pennines – Walking Weekend

We are excited to announce our new “Discover the Pennines” walking weekend!

The adventure will take us to the Pennines, one of England’s most special places. A stunning landscape of open heather moors and peatlands, attractive dales and hay meadows, tumbling upland rivers, wonderful woods, welcoming communities, intriguing imprints of a mining and industrial past, distinctive birds, animals and plants and much, much more. In recognition of its special qualities the area has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Discover The Pennines – 1st-3rd June 2018

Join us on our mini discovery weekend in June, where we will be exploring the Pennines and relaxing in a charming cottage in the beautiful surroundings.

Your mountain leader will show you the best of the local area on your guided walks, the evening will be your time to relax around the fire or enjoy the garden, while your evening meal is being prepared.

Schools Adventure Programme

It’s all go for Take2adventure, despite it being the ‘quiet season’ for the outdoor industry we have not let that stop us. We have been back from Devon just over a month now and we have crammed a lot in! From freelancing on Duke of Edinburgh expeditions to plotting and scheming for where and how we want Take2adventure to develop as a business. For us our goal has always been to provide the opportunity for others to experience and enjoy the great outdoors, to help find that balance between work and life.

This balance for us has resulted in the decision to settle back into our house in Retford and use this as a base to travel nationwide for work. This has also meant that we have been able to set up our latest initiative in the local area.

This week is the starting point for our ‘School Adventure Programme’, where we will be working together with local schools to encourage children to experience the outdoors. With every activity we aim to give new experiences, teach new skills and improve safety awareness in the outdoor world, all of which are more frequently being forgotten due to increased time indoors and screen contact time. We will run campfire cooking, archery and team building games to inspire the children we meet to find their adventurous side and be more confident exploring the outdoors!

We already have four schools signed up but we are still looking for more to get involved for the Spring term. So if you or anyone you know would like to be a part of the Schools Adventure Programme please get in touch via the link below and watch this space for updates and pictures.

First Guided Walk Completed. What a Success!

After the very wet, windy and albeit bleak recce, with the absolute troopers Vince and Lesley Rodgers, we had mixed feelings for what our first guided walk would bring. However, we were graced with stunning crisp, blue skies and the wind forecast, was none existent. An absolute winner of a day!

To this!

We would like to thank and congratulate all of those that joined us, family, friends, new friends and the trio of dogs that made up an awesome team! We aim to find adventure and make adventure accessible to all. We certainly achieved that goal last weekend.

A well deserved break

We set quite a challenging first walk but everyone rose to the occasion and stormed it! From the scramble steps of Grindsbrook Clough to boulder hopping around the peat bog on the Kinder Plateau. For some, however, it was unfortunately unavoidable! Jason and his Chocolate lab Finn took one for the team, demonstrating which way NOT to go and showed us just how deep the bog could be!

Overall we walked a solid 8 miles, a steep up and down but a varied route, stunning views and great company!

Our next walk will be on Sunday 26th November starting in Grindleford and heading up through Padley Gorge. It will be a shorter distance of 6 miles, due to shorter days and it will be slightly easier terrain to accommodate the weather if it is not so kind but either way, the walk will offer a beautiful mixture of river, moorland and woodland and if the gang from last weekend are anything to go by it will be a good laugh!

We have already got 11 booked on so places are going fast! So get in touch via our contact page to sign up!
